Engagement Sessions

Chicago Engagement Photographer | Anna and Michael

Anna and Michael’s engagement session was the perfect reminder that meaningful photos aren’t about the weather or location—they’re about the connection between two people.

When Anna and Michael booked their engagement session, they shared how much they love winter and how fitting it felt since they’ll be getting married next December. As a Chicagoland engagement photographer, I’m always prepared for unpredictable weather—but Chicago truly kept us guessing. On the day of their session, temperatures dropped into the single digits, so we made a last-minute decision to move their engagement photos indoors.

That quick pivot turned into a cozy, intimate session that reflected their relationship beautifully—and proved that even winter engagement sessions in Chicago can feel warm and timeless.

A Chicagoland Love Story That Began in 2020

Anna and Michael met in 2020 on Hinge, right before the world changed. Anna was home from ISU for spring break and never returned to campus due to COVID. Like many couples during that time, their early dates looked a little different—drive-through food runs, wearing masks, and sneaking moments together whenever they could.

One of my favorite details from their engagement questionnaire is how they first met in person. They met at their local Target so they could drive together to grab food—and even now, years later, they still call it “their Target.” Those everyday details are often what make a love story feel most real.

Since then, they’ve shared countless experiences together, from kayaking on the Chicago River to attending concerts—one of their favorites being seeing Sabrina Carpenter live. Their relationship has grown through seasons of uncertainty, adventure, and everyday life together.

A Dream Proposal on an Alaskan Cruise

In June of 2025, Michael planned a proposal that Anna never saw coming. During a family vacation on an Alaskan cruise with Anna’s family, he secretly coordinated with everyone to create a moment she’d never forget.

On the third day of the cruise, the family went on an excursion aboard a smaller boat traveling through a fjord to see glaciers up close. With massive glaciers as the backdrop, Michael got down on one knee and proposed. Anna said yes, surrounded by family, breathtaking views, and a moment they’ll remember forever.

What They Love Most About Each Other

When I asked Anna what she loves most about Michael, she shared that he has an incredible ability to light up any room he walks into. She admires his work ethic, loves how he always puts her first, and appreciates how effortlessly he makes her laugh.

Michael’s answer echoed that same depth. He shared that Anna helps him become a better man, is always there supporting him, and that she’s beautiful—inside and out.

It’s clear that their relationship is built on mutual respect, encouragement, and genuine friendship—something that truly shines through in their engagement photos.

Indoor Engagement Photos in the Chicagoland Area

As a wedding and engagement photographer serving the Chicagoland area, I love showing couples that great photos don’t depend on perfect weather. Chicago winters can be unpredictable, but indoor engagement sessions offer a beautiful alternative—especially when the focus is on connection, emotion, and storytelling.

Anna and Michael’s session felt natural, relaxed, and deeply personal. Their love didn’t need an elaborate backdrop—it spoke for itself.

Looking Ahead to Their Chicago Winter Wedding

I’m so excited to photograph Anna and Michael’s wedding next December and continue telling their story. Their engagement session was the perfect start to documenting a relationship rooted in love, laughter, and shared history.
